Arkansas Botox
For the last few years if you have wanted to eliminate the signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging skin and other lines then it is more than likely you would consider using botox; one has to wonder just what it is that this substance is and how it works. To understand exactly what it is and does, we first have to look at just how this amazing miracle of modern science came to be. It was first studied back in the early 1960's and derived from the now famous poison Botulinum toxin; originally the purpose of this was to treat neurological disorders.
A treatment finally came in 1989 when the FDA granted approval for it to be used on these patients with visual conditions; these included people with eyes that were not aligned correctly and those that suffered from uncontrollable blinking called blepharospasm. More research was carried out into other medical uses and in 2000 it was allowed to be used on patients that had a cervical dystonia condition; this helps people with contractions in the upper back and shoulder and neck area, plus other eye disorders. The strange discovery they made quite by accident was that botox helps to reduce the visible lines between the eyebrows; following this the FDA finally recognized the implications and agreed its commercial use in 2002.
When Botox is injected into the muscles of the forehead, it blocks nerve impulses which results in the weakening of the muscles that cause frowning; eventually, over a period of several months, given enough of these injections, the frown lines start to soften. In many cases the lines eventually disappear completely but it can also be injected into the muscles of the face that cause crows feet, forehead lines and frown lines. The injections are a purified and watered down version of the sometimes fatal Botulinum poison; these treatments are only a fraction of the true strength which, in other forms, could make us seriously unwell.
Of course we all like to laugh and obviously use our faces for other gestures but the muscles controlling this are the cause of the line we see and obviously, these injections can stop this. The wonderful thing too many people is the treatment can help reduce and often eliminate the signs of aging that have taken years to appear; many 'skin age reduction cream' manufacturers have tried to produce creams that reduce facial line but this is the only treatment that works, currently. Because botox paralyzes the facial muscles, normal movement, expressions and gestures are almost impossible to make; that's why people who have had these treatments can look like mannequins.
Whilst the face can still provide expressions, they are seriously reduced but this give the effect of someone looking much younger than they really are. For some people the obvious downside to this treatment is the cost; often considered something only celebrities can afford because a single injection can cost anywhere from a few hundred to over a thousand dollars. Whether there are any long term effects from continued use of botox is still unknown as the treatment is still to new but for those people who do use it, it doesn't seem to matter.
